Dogs have always been a big part of my life. Growing up, I loved spending time with friends’ and family members’ dogs, and those early memories stayed with me long into adulthood.
In 2014, I moved into a role that allowed me to work from home and finally welcomed my own dog, Alfie, into the family. He was a much-loved part of our lives for nine years and nine months, adapting beautifully as our family grew. Gentle, wise and full of love, Alfie left a huge pawprint on our hearts.

One of the hardest parts of being a dog owner was finding someone I truly trusted to look after Alfie when I had to be away. I sometimes travelled a long way to make sure he was in safe, caring hands. I understood first-hand how important it is to feel confident that your dog is happy and well cared for.
After losing Alfie, our family wasn’t ready to welcome another dog of our own, but we still missed having dogs around us. We decided to turn that love into something positive by offering a home-from-home holiday care service for other people’s dogs.

Barkcation Babo was founded in memory of Alfie, who we affectionately called Babo. Today, my husband, our three children and I welcome our canine guests into our family home and aim to give each one the care, attention and affection we would want for our own.

We keep our boarding numbers small, caring for one dog at a time or two dogs from the same household. Before any stay, we take time to learn about your dog’s temperament, routine and needs, so we can decide together whether Barkcation Babo is the right fit.
We know that leaving your dog takes trust. Our aim is to make the experience reassuring for you and as comfortable as possible for your dog.
